Acle Ladies closed the gap on the teams above them after a 2-1 victory against third-placed Dunstable at The FDC Flegg on Sunday.

The breakthrough came in the fourth minute. Larkins and Todd combined well down the right and a cross was cleared to Wells, whose low shot into the far corner of the goal gave the Dunstable keeper little chance.

Against the run of play, Dunstable equalised after 20 minutes. Shields misjudged a high ball and it went straight to a Dunstable player who fired across Hooper to level the scores.

Eight minutes into the second half, Acle regained the lead. Bullard, who had recently been introduced, played the ball to Todd who fed Wells and the striker’s shot found the net.

Team: Hooper, Larkins, Copeman, Goodfield, Shields, Ladbrooke, Rowland, Pasque, Todd, Burton, Wells. Subs: McGuire, Bullard, Thomas, Cletheroe.

The Ladies entertain Brentwood on Sunday at 2pm.
