Larter joins Daniels in Gorleston hot-seat

Gorleston manager Richard Daniels has spoken of the adventure that lies ahead after welcoming the vastly-experienced Stuart Larter to the Emerald Park hot-seat.
Daniels is delighted that Larter has agreed to become joint first team manager of the Greens.
“All decisions will be made and agreed on together,” said Daniels. “I feel his experience must be used in the right way, so it becomes an adventure with the two of us at the helm.”
Larter is a six-time winner of the Eastern Counties League title from his time with Wroxham, and was a joint manager at Kirkley and Pakefield.
“Stu is clearly vastly more experienced at this level than myself,” said Daniels. “It allows me the chance to learn as well, and so far it has worked well between us. It was just right of me to put Gorleston Football Club first and give Stu as much of the responsibility of matters on the pitch as myself. I’m convinced his appointment of joint boss will take Gorleston forward in the right direction, which is what it’s all about, progress for the club.
“Also, Matty Potter becomes first team coach. Matty has already proved his training methods are excellent and players enjoy his sessions.
“I’m sure Matty’s involvement with the first team will in time reap its rewards.”
After two successive defeats, this weekend Gorleston face a difficult fixture if they want to get back on track when Wroxham visit Emerald Park.
The Yachtsmen moved to the top of the league earlier following Tuesday’s 7-0 victory over Yarmouth at the Wellesley, but the Greens will go into the game without fear after they won the corresponding fixture at Trafford Park 2-1 last month. However, since that game, Wroxham have been unbeaten in the league.
Steve Taylor and Gareth Palmer should return for the game. Richard Woodrow is now very close to a return, however, Bradley Hough’s injury has not cleared up as was hoped and he is likely to be missing until Christmas.
There is better news on goal ace Christy Finch who, after seeing a physio, is expected back within two weeks.
There is one departure this week. Scott Woodgate, after 13 appearances and three goals this season, has decided to return to Dereham.
Gorleston are also in league action on Tuesday night at Emerald Park when Diss Town are the visitors. Diss were promoted with the Greens from the First Division last season and Gorleston have already won at Brewers Green Lane twice this season, once in the league and once in the league cup.
Going in to this weekend’s fixtures, Diss have failed to win in their previous five Premeir Divison games.
