Windmill 2 Dog House 3

Yarmouth Sunday League champions Windmill suffered last-gasp heartbreak as Dog House netted a dramatic winner in the Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup final at Carrow Road on Wednesday.

The Norwich pub outfit enjoyed the better of the early play and were awarded a penalty in the 15th minute after Scott Butler had blocked an effort on goal with his hand.

The defender was shown a yellow card and Scott Woodgate stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and give the Norwich outfit the lead.

There were few clear cut chances for the remainder of the half, but Windmill levelled in added time when Scott Woodcock sent a bullet of a shot into the back of the net.

Dog House re-established the lead in the 59th minute, when John Curtis slid in at the far post to score after an excellent ball across the face of the six-yard box.

However the advantage lasted just four minutes, as Aaron Bowers, who along with Chad Pillar, Adam Thompson and Adam Hodds, had helped Catfield to lift the Norfolk Junior Cup the night before, finished an intricate passing move to equalise. In the final minute of normal time Dog House substitute Laurence York was denied by a goal-line clearance.

The Dog House pressure told in added time, when Woodgate curled a delicious free-kick into the back of the net from 20 yards.

However, there was still time for Windmill to be denied by the woodwork, as Eddie Thompson headed against the bar with just seconds remaining.
