ON Saturday Gorleston were defeated by a last-minute goal, on Tuesday night they beat the Ghosts with a last-gasp strike.

Gorleston were forced into changes with Pete Lambert and Leon Harewood unavailable and keeper Tom Marsden injured. Reserve keeper Steve Cannon replaced Marsden, Gary Ingram came into the attack for Pete Lambert and Adam Thurtle moved to central defence for Harewood. Kyle Howell took up the right-back position. Harry Maddison started on the left of the attack with Regan Harman on the bench with Ricci Butler, Kevin Howes and Tom Daniels.

Gorleston took the lead on 32 minutes when Steve Taylor won the ball in midfield and showed great persistence to run through and finish a cracking shot to beat the Ghosts' big keeper Ian Cooper.

Steven Cannon is 18-years-old and proved to be competent in goal and Gorleston deserved the interval lead.

Fakenham equalised after 65 minutes when Karl Pask headed in from a left-wing cross.

Gorleston made some changes with Kevin Howes replacing Gary Ingram in attack, Ricci Butler coming in for John Bell on the right-wing and Regan Harman also coming into the attack.

Gorleston had strong claims for a penalty and Fakenham's keeper Ian Cooper appeared to hold Harry Maddison but nothing was given.

When it looked as though the points would be shared Regan Harman forced the ball home for the winner following a right-wing cross. Harman has been in good form in the reserves and has deserved a first team call-up.

Gorleston moved up to sixth place in the table with 47 points after a run of four away games which have seen two wins, one draw and a defeat.
