Broadland travelled to Swaffham last weekend, for a well contested match, in which Swaffham secured victory through two late tries.

Broadland received the kick off, and an early attacking flurry, led by some good running from Number 8 Adam Towfighi, culminated in scrum-half Finn Alfshinpour kicking an early penalty. Swaffham drove down the field and managed to maul the ball over the Broadland line for a score (unconverted).

Broadland struck back to take a one point lead with a second penalty kick from Alfshinpour. Swaffham continued to press the Broadland line and it was only solid Tackling from Ed Dixon, Andy Hewitt and Asa Morrison that kept Swaffham from a score. Broadland's line out was not working as well as it has been in previous weeks and Swaffham were capitalising on opportunity.

In the tight, the scrums were well contested, but Broadland had the upper hand in the mauls with Khan Bilyard and Richard Bristo providing a superb platform for Broadland to work off. Ashley Lightfoot and Mark White were testing the Swaffham defensive line and Broadland's ball retention was good. Swaffham managed a breakaway try (unconverted) and a penalty before the half for a 13-6 lead.

Broadland made one substitution at the midpoint with Tommy Simmonds joining the pack. Shortly after kick off Broadland did manage to unlock the Swaffham defence, captain Tim Fenn took a crash ball on the blind, but as contact was made managed to offload to fullback Sutherland, Sutherland flew though a gap drew the fullback and passed out to wing Jake Sewell, Sewell out paced the training defence to score in the corner (unconverted).

Swaffham however stepped up their game and added a further try under the posts (converted) to take the lead. Broadland pushed hard through some great work from Simon Ruddick and Leighton Buckley, but were not able to turn possession into points, Broadland made a final substitution with Mossie joining the wing. In the dying minutes Broadland needed a converted score to tie the game, but Broadland's over commitment led to a Swaffham break and a try which finished the game.
