Aston Shaw Great Yarmouth Sunday Football League

WITH the league entering the final month of the season some teams appear to be struggling for players, as both Gt Yarmouth Sunday and Gorleston Rangers failed to fulfil their fixtures.

Both teams were due to play the leaders of their respective divisions in Camden Tavern and Martham, who will both be awarded walkover wins.

The league is concerned at the trend of clubs failing to raise teams.

Of the remaining games played Windmill boosted their challenge and goal difference with a 13-0 rout of a sporting Memphis Belton who, despite having a difficult season, are managing to fulfil their fixtures.

El Sol’s challenge took a dent as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Acle Wanderers whilst Rollesby picked up another three points in winning 7-3 against Gorleston Albion.

With Martham inactive, Camden Tavern move clear in second place following their 4-2 win over Gorleston Albion Reserves. Yarmouth White Sox were hammered 5-1 by a rejuvenated Venture Albion, which seemingly ends White Sox hopes of the title as they are now six points adrift in fourth place.

Lichfield Arms had a fine 7-3 win at Mariners Compass whilst there was a first win of the season for basement side Carpathians who defeated Leisureland 2-1.

There is a request from the county to attend a meeting being held at the Russell Allinson Lounge, Carrow Road on April 20 at 7.30pm, all member clubs have been notified by the county.

This is an extraordinary general meeting and gives the members the chance to have a voice in the way in which the county is run. Admittance is only allowed by production of the notice and attendance slip already sent to clubs’ secretaries.

Any club secretary intending to attend and would like transport should contact the league secretary and arrangements could be made.
