Broadland-Great Yarmouth 0, Dereham 16

BROADLAND, despite giving a performance that yielded good field position and lots of possession, could not convert this into points.

Broadland kicked off and early pressure from Dereham provided them with an early penalty.

Broadland wing Jake Sewell - playing in his 50th first XV appearance - put in a scorching run as he picked up a loose ball inside his own 22-metre line. He went the length of the field, wrong-footing the full back before being dragged down at the Dereham five. Broadland did not utilise the attacking opportunity quickly and Dereham were able to

co-ordinate the defence.

No 8 Adam Towfighi drove at the line and came close, and Simon Ruddick recycled and sent the ball down the line, only for Broadland to be forced into touch.

Broadland were well settled in the scrum and Beckett, Bilyard and Bristo were providing a solid platform. Ash Lightfoot and Stacey Ledgerwood were moving the ball well, with some good support play from Wing Linton.

Broadland came unstuck when a long line-out ball bounced past the line and Dereham collected at pace. A simple run of play with the ball being passed down the line culminated with a try in the corner (unconverted).

Broadland still looked like scoring, taking good ball in the line-out and making good territorial progress.

This was complemented by some excellent support from full-back Doggett who was fielding all the kicks sent his way, giving Broadland attacking platforms from the back three, though the Yarmouth side could still not get points on the board.

Dereham led 8-0 at half-time.

The second half began with Hooker Rye Bilyard being shown a yellow for a technical foul, and the 14-man Broadland held out well.

Dereham added a close-range penalty. Broadland's Ryan Gallie, Sammy Jordan and Ben Collings came on, but Broadland were beginning to chase the game.

Dereham broke and superb cover tackling from Andy Hewitt prevented a score at Broadland's five while James Fogg and Richard Bristo prevented further surges at the line.

A Dereham lock picked up and headed for the line. Flanker Asa Morrison stripped the ball out, only for it to bounce away and roll over the goal line with Dereham winning the scramble to touch down (unconverted).

Broadland had a final attacking flurry which included a barnstorming run from lock Royce Chiddle through the middle.
