Lots of potential on show as Great Yarmouth perform well in league's grand final

Ipswich was the venue for the grand final of the Suffolk League on Saturday.
With 15 teams competing in the league, the finals were split into two galas, and Great Yarmouth took part in the B final.
With some much bigger clubs in the league, Great Yarmouth Swimming Club finished a creditable 10th and showed real potential for the future.
Very much a team event, with swimmers urging each other on, there were some notable individual performances.
Harvey Larner, 10, had an outstanding afternoon. He won all three of his individual races, and the 32.20 time he swam in the 50m freestyle put him over five seconds ahead of his competitors and in fact would have placed him first in the A final.
This was extra helpful as GYSC had played their ‘joker’ card on him, so gained valuable extra points.
He also won both his 50m butterfly races by a considerable distance, despite swimming up an age category in the 11 and under, in one of them.
Kelsey Wilson, 13, also had an excellent gala. After being narrowly pushed into second place in the 14 and under 50m freestyle, she came out fighting, taking first in the 13 and under 50m freestyle, breaking the 30-second barrier for the first time with a time of 29.80 and gaining more extra points with a ‘joker’ card win. She also won the 50m breaststroke.
Other swimmers who took top points for GYSC by coming first included Finley Coman, who convincingly won all three of his individual races. Ben Bedford and Brad Secker won their 50m backstroke races and Raul Hasmasan was first in the 50m backstroke. Ernest Blas took maximum points in the 50m freestyle (also dipping under the 30-second barrier for the first time) and Anna Pearce, who swam an impressive 50m butterfly to win her race.
Many of the swimmers competing swam their races in personal best times, showing commitment and a competitive edge. Other team members were Honeysuckle Carlyon-Blanchard, Melissa Duffield, Bethany Gordon, Zoe Land, Nathan Pitman, Skye Nichols and Billy Wilson.
Well done to the whole team for representing Great Yarmouth Swimming Club in such a positive manner and thanks to the coaching staff, volunteers and parents for their support.
