Ludham Bowls Club drew with fellow title conteders Filby in Y/L Division Two. Each side won two blocks and it also even on shots at 68-68.

Top block was J Youngs, R Jepson, and D Mattocks who won in some style 27-11, while A Chaplin, R Wright and E Hearn led 15-5 at the 14th end and then slipped to 15-13 before taking two twos to win 19-15 and 3.5 points.

In the Y/L at home Ludham claimed a convincing win over Hickling where the overall scores did not reflect the closeness of the action on the rinks. M Gibbs, R Jepson and B Saunders were top block with a fine 32-15. R Wright, W Alston and E Hearn finished strongly 29-18 while D Oakes, C Rundle and M Benton, 0-10 down at the sixth, turned it around from there to win 25-19.

C Hulse, J Savage and D Mattocks were caught on the last by a determined Hickling block 17-17. The 103-69 win for 6.5 points kept Ludham in second place in the league.

Ludham visited Coltishall in the NWL Cup second leg one shot down. However they met stern opposition and only gained one rink win from C Hulse, M Benton and R Locke as they came from behind to win 17-10.

All of the other blocks lost and an unfortunate fall for skip Dave Mattocks did not help their cause as the team eventually succumbed 58-79.

Ludham visited County Arts to contest the 30th annual Brewery Cup (second leg) against Norfolk Brewery BC.

The home leg had ended 77-58 but the away leg was to be quite different. Playing with two blocks of four-wood pairs and two blocks of three-wood triples brought differing results. Eddie Hearn and Marian Gibbs had a superb game to win 29-10 while Richard Jepson and Rodney Wright had a close game just getting home 12-11. In a cat and mouse game C Hulse, J Youngs and M Benton also took a winning shot on the last end 12-11. G Bolton, T Taylor and A Cordiner suffered at 8-26 so it was 61-58 on the day and overall 138-116.

The cup returned to Ludham after a competitive and good natured contest.
