Eleven-year-old Finley Brown of Ludham Snooker Club has become the national U16 billiards champion after winning the event, which this year was hosted by King’s Lynn Malting’s Q Club.

Finley had qualifying round wins over Luke Walker 147-41, Jack Watson 109-50 and Ryan Dunkley 109-54 before defeating Louis Daisey 127-32 in the quarter-finals.

The youngster then faced his hardest match to date against Max Smith but came through this test 92-74 to reach the final, where he met Norfolk’s other highly-rated junior billiards protégé Callum Wilson-West of Little Massingham.

Finley however saved his best billiards for last, playing an excellent final to defeat Callum 162-107 and become the youngest ever winner of this title.

The Championship predates World War One, and includes two world snooker champions and seven world billiards champions among former winners.
