AT a cold and wet Sloughbottom Park in Norwich, seven students from East Norfolk Sixth Form College ran superbly to ensure selection for the Anglian Schools' Competition at Hinchingbrooke Park in Huntington, Cambridgeshire 10 days later.

This is the first time that an entire squad has progressed in this way and earned the coveted Norfolk vest - and they were understandably euphoric at the end of the race.

Squad: Damien Rogers, Micah Rogers, Adam Varvel, Jordon Reed, Ryan Chapman, Josie French and Fiona Walls.

This was essentially a tremendous team effort and it was clear that the squad had benefited from the experience of slightly longer races against a wider range of opposition in the East Anglian Cross Country League, where they are also proving to be very successful - at the top of the league at the moment.

As well as Huntington, they can now look forward to races at Fritton Woods and Thetford in the coming weeks.
