First half goals from Danny Scriven, Marian Jobbagy and Joel Watts helped Yarmouth beat Fakenham in the Knockout Cup.
Fakenham took the lead through Samuel Garner after a rare mistake from Mark Vincent.
Scriven equalised from the spot after Jobbagy was felled in the box.
The young striker then gave Yarmouth the lead with a wonder strike from 25 yards before Joel Watts completed the treble of goals two minutes from half time, writes Rebecca Abbott.
Hosts Fakenham put the result in doubt with a James Tricks strike but Yarmouth held out for the win.
Injuries forced all three changes to the starting 11, Marian Jobbagy and Charlie McAra came in for Mitch Forbes and Josh Thomas respectively, while injuries to goalkeepers forced Johnny Jarvis to start between the sticks, leaving space for Mark Vincent to make his 749th appearance at the age of 49.
Fakenham took the lead with the first real chance of the afternoon, a mistake from Vincent allowed Ben Boyce to burst through and lay the ball off to Samuel Garner to slot home.
Ten minutes later Yarmouth were given a penalty, Marian Jobbagy was felled after latching onto Charlie McAra’s through ball. Up stepped Danny Scriven to send Ghosts ‘keeper Lee Brooks the wrong way from 12 yards.
Scriven then planted a free header over the bar on half hour before Joel Watts fired an effort that was inches away from finding the top corner.
With half time approaching Yarmouth took the lead. McAra and Jobbagy combined well, allowing the latter to curl a spectacular shot from 25 yards.
Brooks backpedalled towards his own line and flapped his right paw at thin air as the effort dipped under the crossbar, rippling the top corner of the net.
There was still time for Joel Watts to double the lead from a counter attack. Danny Scriven broke up a Fakenham move on the edge of his own box and after running 50 yards, released Watts to cut inside on to his left foot and curl a low shot into the bottom corner.
The result looked secure when Ben Boyce was shown a second yellow card early in the second half.
A fair challenge from Robin Andersen on James Tricks angered the Fakenham front man – who had been earlier booked, his tackle in retaliation was worthy of the second yellow card.
Two minutes later Johnny Jarvis diverted James Page’s header over the bar as Fakenham pushed for a way back into the game.
It came 17 minutes from time, James Tricks powered home from the edge of the box.
Fakenham could have equalised two minutes later when substitute Ashley Jarvis planted a header inches wide of the upright after Samuel Garner flicked Ryan Pearson’s cross into the striker’s path.
