Martham beat Fakenham A at the Coronation Ground in their latest Norfolk Alliance Division Three fixture.

After winning the toss Martham put the visitors in on another good track.

Good bowling and strong outfielding led to three wickets for Jack Whatmough, two for Louis Smith and one apiece for juniors Kieran Spencer and Archie Smith. This restricted the visitors to a score of 188 with Futter and Matthews scoring patient 50s.

But that didn’t tell the whole story as the hosts dropped a series of catches.

The day’s challenge became tougher as Martham’s reply started with losing a wicket first ball. However, fourties for Whatmough and Lou Stronach gave a sound footing, and despite finding themselves 112-6 at one stage yet another unbeaten knock from Simeon Randall (32) and a classy unbeaten half century from Brett Colclough helped Martham home in the 40th over. Catching practice was made top of the agenda after the game.
