MARTHAM could not afford to lose this game if they wanted any chance of promotion. With the disappointments of the last two games behind them they were fired up for this fixture.
Martham applied constant pressure and the persistence of Greg Evans saw him battle through to score Martham's first two goals with some calm finishing.
It wasn't until Martham got to utilise Brett's long throw that the vital third goal came, with a simple tap-in for Robert Blogg who was sweeping round the back post.
Martham were up for the fight though, and battled hard to get another two goals, the first from a Paul Punchard penalty.
Then a brilliant first touch from Ian Smith bamboozled the defence before he slotted home calmly.
