In between the rain showers, chilly winds and cold evenings the 2012 bowls season has commenced and Rollesby Bowls Club have had a mixed start. Visiting South Walsham Mallards in the 3-wood County League, the visitors tasted success on only one rink J Temple, A Christie, B Temple 21-15 and came way with just two points. overall score 37-72, points 2-7.
Opening their account in the Yarmouth League, Rollesby entertained Runham and in a close match, with each side winning two rinks, enjoyed their first win of the season. S Daniels, T Wright, B Temple 17-14 and J Avery, T Coots, T Avery 26-12. Score 73-69, points 5-2.
The Duffield League match against Horning was unfortunately postponed due to an unplayable green due to heavy rain.
Again in the Yarmouth League, Rollesby travelled the short distance to neighbours Martham to play newly promoted Martham B but had to be satisfied with a win and a draw on two rinks, losing the other rinks 11-23 and 11-16. E Taylor, T Wright, G Curtis 17-17 - J Temple, M Coots, B Temple 22-16). Overall score 61-72, points 1�-5�.
The week ended with a home encounter in the 3 wood league against Ormesby Blue in rare sunshine. Despite losing narrowly on two rinks 14-15 and 15-17, the win of J Mason, A Christie, R Blunden 21-14 gave the home side a 50-46 victory, points 5-4.
