THREE Kingfisher boxers have won recent bouts, including an England Schools semi-final.

At Lowestoft Lions Club dinner show at Pontin's Pakefield, Liam Goddard of Kingfisher ABC met N Isitt of Attenborough ABC over three, one and a-half minute rounds.

In the first round south paw Goddard waited for Isitt, and as he stepped in scored with a strong right hand to the head. Goddard's last scoring left of the round forced a standing count. As Isitt stepped in Goddard dropped under his leading left hand and delivered a well-timed left to the head.

The second round started well for Goddard as he upped the pressure and pushed Isitt back. Goddard again scored well with good lefts but Isitt took all Goddard's shots and still came forward.

In the final round Isitt took the fight to Goddard. Neither boxer would give ground and the both scored with good combinations in a hard-fought final round.

The decision went unanimously to Goddard for a well deserved win.

Kingfisher Conner Raune, in his debut bout, met Tom King of Ipswich ABC over three, two-minute rounds. Raune took the advantage with a solid left-right combination. King used his left but Raune blocked and countered well.

As King stepped in Raune landed a well-timed right that had King lying on the ropes for an eight count by the referee. Raune then upped the pressure on King, pushing him back with a straight left-right followed by left-right hooks that forced King to cover up against the ropes.

After Raune had landed several hard hooks with no reply the referee stopped the contest to save King from further punishment.

In Guildford on Sunday, Henri Potter of Kingfisher ABC won on points in the English Schools Boxing

semi-finals sponsored by the Royal Navy in a close bout with R Kelly of Faversham BC.

Neither boxer dominated the bout but south paw Kelly tried to keep it at long range and counter as Potter attacked. Potter's defence was good and he did not take any clean punches but scored with left jabs and straight rights.

It was like this for most of the bout with Potter having the edge throughout.

Kelly tried to take the fight to Potter in the last round but Potter's good defence kept him out of trouble. Kelly could not land any clean punches whereas Potter scored with some good counter punches and always looked the neater boxer.

Potter goes forward to the final in two weeks' time in Essex.
