Denis Goodley (pictured), who is manager of the Acle Indoor Bowls Club and has been a member of the National Executive of the English Indoor Bowls Association for the past five years, has been elected as a board member of the newly-amalgamated indoor men's and ladies' associations, to be known as EIBA Ltd.

“This is quite an honour to be voted in by my fellow peers, men and women,” said Goodley. ”It will mean a great deal of work, and sadly even more time in committees. But I am a great believer in the game of indoor bowls being governed by just one association, so will give it 100 per cent support.”

His first role for the board was to host a seminar in Peterborough last weekend to which representatives from Kent, Hampshire, Northumberland and Warwickshire were invited. All these individuals had been successful in introducing bowls into schools, and the object of the meeting was to produce guidance notes so that all bowls club secretaries could follow their example.

Eventually a Schools' Bowling Association will be formed since bowls can now be a GCSE subject and is on the national curriculum.
