New Great Yarmouth Town manager Ricci Butler is looking forward to hitting the ground running after seeing his players in action during training this week.

“It has been a very rewarding and enjoyable start and I know that I have inherited a good squad of players,” said Butler.

“I believe we can look forward to an excellent start to the season.

“The commitment and attitudes of the players has been spot on from day one. I already feel extremely positive about how things are progressing so far.

“We are now approaching the pre-season friendlies where I am looking forward to having a good look at how individuals and the squad are shaping up, along with the systems of play that I want the team to adopt.

“I am so excited about the future and can’t wait for the real fun to begin,” he added.

The Bloaters were delighted to have secured the signatures of some of last season’s squad, including top goalscorer Mitch Forbes, midfielders Connor Deeks, Josh Thomas and Charlie McAra, winger Leighton Crux, striker Pete Oldham and goalkeeper Joe Gill.

They will join new signings Scott Butler, Adam Thompson, Harley Clements and Gareth Palmer.

The Bloaters’ pre-season matches start next week when they travel to Cromer Town.

Neighbours Acle United will be the first visitors to the Wellesley on July 19.

Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Norwich United will provide stern opposition at The Wellesley on Wednesday, July 23 followed a week later by an even tougher test in the shape of last season’s Ryman League North strugglers Wroxham.
