AFTER many years playing cricket at various grounds throughout the area, Blundeston Cricket Club have agreed with the Somerleyton Community Association for exclusive use of their playing field for the next 10 years.

The facilities at the ground are very basic and at present a cricket square for eight wickets is under construction with the guidance of qualified groundsman Gary Colman and many volunteer helpers. There is a lot of work to be done to get the field ready for the 2010 season and the club will need to raise some funding to help it succeed in this exciting opportunity to give the club its own home ground.

The move will give the opportunity to have a second adult team and the club are looking for adults to put their names forward to help next season to give the current U15 players an opportunity to continue to play for the club at a competitive level. Those interested should contact Belinda or Graeme Talbot.

Mark Chapman has been appointed the grant and funding officer whilst a fundraising committee has been set up to organise events to help raise funds.

The cost of the first year including the necessary ground equipment is likely to be in excess of 4,685, so if there is anyone who would like to sponsor the club they should contact either a club member or one of the contacts below.

The progress and details of any sponsorship received will be publicised and updated on the website at http://blundeston.playcricket.com/home/home.asp
