The club is in its 25th anniversary year and running a number of events during the season, the first being a formal launch of the new club name before the kick-off tomorrow.

The anniversary dinner will take place on October 25 at 7pm in a marquee adjacent to the clubhouse. Tickets are available from The King's Arms, Northgate Street, Great Yarmouth on 01493 843736 or from Kevan (Pug) Pywell on 07505 139460, cost £30 per person which includes guest speakers, dinner and dancing until late.

On September 27 there is an open invitation to all former players and members to return to the club for a re-union barbecue. The clubhouse will open at 2pm. Anyone who has been involved with the club over the past quarter-of-a-century is very welcome to attend - as is anyone interested in becoming involved in rugby in Great Yarmouth as a player or supporter.

Senior training continues on Wednesday nights from 7-9pm through until April and is open to all players over 17.

Broadland - Great Yarmouth's 1st XV have some tricky early fixtures. On September 20 they travel to Haverhill, followed by a national cup fixture on September 27, and on October 4 they play host to Ely.

The 2nd XV are in action this weekend away to Beccles 2nd XV in the Norfolk Merit Table, and have their first home match on September 20 against Fakenham 2nd XV.

The club is also running a 3rd XV for the 2008/09 season, Their first fixture is against L&Y 3rds on September 27. All matches during September and October kick off at 3pm.

The club is seeking corporate sponsorship for Senior 2nd and 3rd XV teams and the youth section. Any business considering sponsoring local rugby should contact Geoff Hawkes on 07788 550502.

Youth rugby takes place from 10am-noon on Sundays at Cobholm playing fields just off the A12 between the Gapton Hall roundabout and Breydon Bridge. Boys and girls aged five to 16 are welcome, all sessions are taken by qualified coaches.

There is no charge for children's training and no match fees for youth players.
