Gorleston Cliffs parkrun welcomed 17 newcomers at the weekend at the 414th event.
Although 60 runners earned themselves personal best times, the first three men home had to settle for times just outside their bests.
It was a thrilling battle in the men’s event with Matthew Sutton triumphing in 17.59. Getting within five seconds of your best when you are running your 303rd parkrun is an amazing achievement. Marc Evans and Darren Honour followed close behind in 18.06 and 18.10 respectively.
The ladies were led home by Joanne Cox in 21.18. Allyna Mukuya was paced to second with a best, by her mum Colleen, both sharing 22.07.
Two notable performances were by Sarah Withington and Roger Andrews. They took a week off from marshalling to join the runners. Well done to Sarah in 26.37 and Roger in 28.56. The parkrun will be celebrating its eighth birthday on April 22.
