Nifty effort by swim club

Great Yarmouth Swimming Club took part in the Nifty Fifties gala at Thetford. All races except the medley were 50 metres (see picture on back page, p72).

Isaac Kirby and Tom Smith were first in all four strokes and the medley in their age groups. Jack Utting got three first places with seconds in freestyle and medley.

Shanice Webster took the girls' breaststroke. Grace Hubbard had two seconds and two thirds, Charlie Smith and Zoe Prettyman both got two third places and a second.

Second places came from Amelia Driver backstroke, Lauren James breaststroke, Danielle Page fly, and Connor Webster backstroke.

Adelaide Loveland freestyle, and Grace Pettigrew fly fought hard for their third places.

With more than 25 swimmers in most races it was quite an achievement to a gain a place in the first three.

Hutchinson Cup: 1 Zoe Prettyman 2 Natasha Pestka, 3 Megan Newman.

David Watson Cup: 1 Taylor Hudson, 2 Felicity Martin, 3 Emily Acland.

Knights Cup: 1 Grace Hubbard, 2 Charlie Smith 3 Kerry Burwood.

Shaw Cup: 1 Grace Hubbard, 2 Charlie Smith.
