THREE girls from the Great Yarmouth Swimming Club (pictured) competed in the Nifty Fifty Gala at Thetford.

With a high entry in each age group and trophies for the first six places, there was plenty of competition. The girls were not overawed and came away with a creditable performance.

Lauren James just missed first place in the breaststroke, and got a third place in the IM. Although recording a fast time in the fly, she had to be content with fifth.

The fast-improving Bethany Burwood had to fight hard for her second place in breaststroke and did well with a third place in the IM and a fourth in the backstroke.

Clarissa Burwood swimming in the highly competitive lower age group swam with great determination to get amongst the trophies with fifth place in both breaststroke and IM.

Training returns to normal this week, and Saturday morning resumes. Places for swimmers. If you wish to join the club, ring Nigel on 01493 377906.
