Once again the weather was the talking point over the weekend as over 100 fixtures in the Norfolk and Suffolk Youth League fell victim to the snow, rain and cold conditions.

However some games were played, with Great Yarmouth Town making the trip to Norwich to take on Firside in the Norfolk County Cup.

Unfortunately the journey was all in vain as they lost 7-0 to a good team.

There was also some cup action and seven goals in the under 13 shield match involving Stalham Timbers and Kirkley and Pakefield Wildcats, with goals from Kyle, Daniel and a brace from Louie seeing the Timbers progress to the next round eventually with a 4-3 win that kept the spectators entertained.

Staying with cup football, this time the under 13 cup, and goals from William and Matthew and two from Lewis were enough to see Loddon progress at the expense of Caister with a 4-1 home win and they now await their next opponents.

There was only one development match played over the weekend and to bring some winter cheer Callum and Alfie were on target for Ormesby.

Moving up to under 14 level there was also only had only match played and Norwich United jumped up the table after their 6-0 home win over the Eagles of Gorleston Rangers with six different goal scorers as Thomas, Lewis, Stuart, Jack, Adam and Jules all found the net.

Staying with the under 14s and Beccles Wasps returned home with three points after their 4-1 win at the Cougars of Waveney while at under-15 level the Wasps were also returning home also from Waveney, and despite a goal from Josh for the Waveney Lions, Robin found the net three times for the Wasps to be the only player to score hat-trick last Sunday.

The final fixtures for 2017 will be this Sunday and the doors will then be open for both the under-7 and under-8 indoor competitions, played in the warm and dry on the cold winter Sundays in January.

Teams of three players with no goalkeepers will play a total of 56 mini matches using smaller balls and small goals to decide the champions.

The maximum number of teams allowed is 14 at both levels and multiple entries are permitted for you clubs with larger squads.

The teams will be playing for the Blow the Whistle on Cancer Trophy.
