A heavy summer shower arrived right on cue as 344 runners set off to walk, jog or run this week’s 5k parkrun on the Gorleston Cliffs.
It provided a refreshing change for the participants, with 49 personal bests being recorded in the slightly cooler conditions.
Samuel Coyne of Bure Valley Harriers was first to finish in a time of 16.59. He was one of 34 first timers this week. Nick Roper of Bungay Black Dog was second in 17.55 with Paul Keating third in 18.21.
For the ladies Amelia Webber of Beccles and Bungay Harriers won in 20.58. Second and third places were more tightly contested with Claire Bishop and Olivia Mukuya racing to the line.
Although Claire finished ahead in 23.10, Olivia earn herself a personal best of 23.12.
Nicholas Dyer and David Hughes received loud cheers on the start line.
Nicholas ran his 300th while David completed a staggering 400th.
