Both the men’s and ladies races were very keenly contested this week with Robert Cheverton of City of Norwich AC coming second in the former and daughter Alice taking second place in the latter.

In the men’s race Ted Oldman of Bungay Black Dog RC overtook Robert for his 14th win in 17:43 and in the ladies race Colleen Mukuya triumphed in 8th place overall with a new PB of 20:24. Robert Cheverton, with a time of 17:49 in his first Gorleston parkrun, shot to the top of the overall age related results with a fantastic 87.0%. Meanwhile Alice, in ninth place overall, recorded an excellent time of 20:32. In third places were David Hughes and Claire Davey with 18:29 and 21:05 respectively.

This was a day when 124 runners took part in ideal conditions, nineteen of whom achieved personal best (PB) times. Quite a sight along the Gorleston cliffs and promenade early every Saturday morning and free to anyone who wishes to take part as long as they have registered first on the Parkrun website. And, despite the headlines, this is not about winning but taking part and the majority do so with fitness and well-being their main aim.
