Caister 1, Wells Town 0

WITH a strong 11 and a formidable bench, Caister went out onto onto the pitch for the first time this season having belief that this was the week that it would all click.

With captain Mark Blake out injured, and Danny Heller making the switch to Gorleston FC, James Corke took the armband, and Lee Bennet and Robson started their first central midfield partnership.

Caister started this Anglian Combination Division One game brightly and came close when Nicky Crawley latched on to a Bennet through ball only to miscue a shot straight into the keeper's arms. This seemed to be Caister's luck for much of the first half with numerous chances going begging.

But Wells never looked like scoring with the resolute back four of Crawley, Corke, Turner and Houghton winning every ball.

The second half saw changes made, Crawley and Crane making way for Gissy and Sam Leslie and Jarvis and Robson swapping positions from centre midfield to right wing.

It had an instant impact as Sam Leslie pitched an inch-perfect ball back post for Corke to rise and smash a header goalbound only for Jarvis to take the credit and surreptitiously nod it over the line.

Caister continued to push for another goal with Bennett missing two strikes from inside the box, and Nicky unlucky with a couple more one-on-ones.

Caister saw a clean sheet for only the second time this season.
