The first of this season’s Great Yarmouth Sunday League finals took place at Emerald Park with True Traders taking on Hemsby Sunday in the Division Two League Cup Final.
True Traders knew that they were going to have to keep the prolific Sean Perfect at bay and George Barnden did that, restricting him to long range shots.
After 30 minutes the deadlock was broken when Hemsby failed to clear and Sam Shovelin slotted home from 12 yards. Hemsby brought a couple of saves out for Fisher after conceding but went in at half-time 1-0 down.
At the start of the second half both teams tested each other’s goalkeepers from distance. With 15 minutes to go True Traders goalkeeper Fisher made a point blank save from Sayer with the goal at his mercy. With the clock running down Hemsby then had a goal disallowed for a foul as True Traders won 1-0.
Credit to both teams and their large following of fans to making this a memorable final under the floodlights.
