OUTDOOR sports teams are hoping against the odds that the freeze which wiped out virtually the whole of last weekend’s matches will ease its grip. But forecasters are not optimistic.

On the football scene, Great Yarmouth Town and Gorleston were denied home Norfolk Senior Cup action.

While the Greens hope to entertain Dereham Town at Emerald Park tomorrow, the Bloaters’ tie at the Wellesley against King’s Lynn Town has been rescheduled for Tuesday night (7.45 ko).

Yarmouth are due to visit Haverhill in the Ridgeons Premier tomorrow while Gorleston should visit Swaffham on Tuesday for their Ridgeons First Division KO Cup quarter-final.

Only one Great Yarmouth & District League side played, Belton reaching the last eight of the Norfolk Primary Cup.

At the end of their long drive to Northwold SSC they produced a stunning 6-0 win.

The Aston Shaw Sunday League also had only one team in action. Windmill’s Senior Cup tie against holders AFC Wanderers was switched to Rollesby, where Wanderers won 2-1 (see page 62).
