Pub on the Shrubs Yarmouth Saturday League

Again widespread snow and ice put paid to any junior games with the exception of one match. At Lynn Grove High School Adrian Simm and his team did a fabulous job of clearing the pitch of snow and ice to get the game on the 3G surface. It was between Division Two leaders Yarmouth Peelers and Caister Roma Reserves in the Percy Nockolds Trophy Preliminary Round. Peelers played some nice football at times and deservedly took a 1-0 lead into half time with a goal from Rory Abel.

However Caister Roma are a youthful side brought up playing attractive football and they took the game to Peelers in the second half, although without a real cutting edge.

Peelers wrapped the game up with two goals in the last 20 minutes to seal a 3-0 win and earn a home tie with Bohemians. Tomorrow sees the first meeting of the season between Haven Bridge and Catfield at the Beaco. This will probably be seen as a warm-up for both sides for next week’s crunch match – Ryan Starkey.
