Penalties help raise �1,000

Norwich City Football in the Community (FITC) coaches joined pupils from Northgate St Andrews School, Great Yarmouth in raising over �1,100 at a sponsored penalty day.

The children had been busy collecting sponsorship money before the presentation assembly took place on Monday, where the children were rewarded for their efforts.

Any child who raised money received a certificate; any child that collected over �30 received a free football, with the child that raised the most amount of money receiving a Norwich City first team home kit.

All the Northgate St Andrews pupils were sponsored to take 10 penalties against an FITC coach. A trophy was presented to the child that showed the best sportsmanship from each class.

In total the children raised �1,114.35 with the proceeds being spilt between a very appreciative Northgate St Andrews School and FITC.

Commenting on the event, FITC South East Norfolk and North Suffolk Co-ordinator Joe Harvey said: “Sponsored penalty days are a great way for both the schools and ourselves as a charity to raise funds, but also to get the whole school active in the same day.

“It is pleasing to see the smiles on so many faces when they received their prize, the whole school at Northgate need congratulating on raising such a large amount.”
