Gorleston parkrun is approaching its eighth birthday. With 10 runners taking part in the first event back in 2009, it has grown over the years and at the weekend had 306 participants.

The blustery conditions made it a challenge but it still produced 55 personal bests and 15 first timers. The leaders battled to a close finish with Christopher Haylock, of Lowestoft, pipping James Kershaw into second. Their times, 17.46 and 17.47, were very impressive given the tough conditions. William Simm was third in exactly 18 minutes.

For the ladies Penny Studley picked up her 44th win in 21.36 with Jennifer Allen 21.48 and Natasha Korovilas 22.06.

Congratulations go to Nick Riches who completed his 300th parkrun in 23.52.

Of the 21 volunteers, Carole Spong celebrated her birthday, having been involved with parkrun since 2009, volunteering almost every week.
