Pool stars do battle in DP Leisure Summer League finals night

The DP Leisure Summer 2017 finals and presentation night took place at Merlins with the trophies being presented by Martin Brooker of the sponsors.
First up was the Division Four Singles between R Western of King’s Head Belton and W Fish of the Lady Haven, with Western winning an open and attacking match 4-1.
Next came the Divisional Three Singles Final with W Hooper from Great Eastern beating A Gibbins from the Albion (Y) 4-0 in a one-sided match.
The Division Two Final was between A Patterson from the Celt and L Nichols from the Great Eastern. Nichols missed a few chances which allowed Patterson to take control and he won 4-0.
The Division One Final was a tense affair between D Clements and R Chaney who were both representing Spencers. Clements cleared up from the first break and carried on playing some great shots to win 4-1.
The Premiership Final was between P Sergeant from the Gorleston Social Club and R Nash from the Lion. After a nervous start the match eventually became a thrilling encounter, with Seargeant winning 4-2.
The Ladies’ Doubles match between S Buxton and C Thomas from the Lion and L Thomas and D Brown from Merlins turned out to be one sided, with Buxton and Thomas winning 3-0.
The Men’s Doubles Final was between T Ford and D Thraxton and T Burrell and M Sones, all representing the Arches. There was nothing to choose between the two teams with everybody playing some excellent shots but in the end Ford and Thraxton ended up winning 4-2.
The Mixed Double Final was between A and C Moore of Merlins against P Patterson and V Marriner from the Lion. This turned out to be a close match and there was an excellent clearance in both the first and last frames, allowing the Moores to win 3-1.
The Women’s Singles Final was an exciting match between S Buxton and B Wheeler, both representing the Lion. The match was very competitive throughout with Buxton capitalising on a few mistakes and winning 3-0.
The Men’s Singles Final between T Burrell from the Arches against R Ashton from Merlins was played at a frantic pace, with both players taking one frame each after mistakes. Both players went on to play some excellent shots but Burrell took control of the match, winning 4-1.
