In Yarmouth and Caister Golf Club’s February Stableford hours of practice paid off for the youngest member in the competition.

William Johnson returned a winning score of 39 points to take the top spot and an overdue handicap cut. He finished two points ahead of John Cater on 37, who in turn was a point ahead of Daniel Tregale, David Pitt and Stephen Curtis all on 36.

The first of the major competitions, The Kemsley Salver, takes place on Sunday, March 18. The ladies at Great Yarmouth & Caister Golf Club finally managed to play their first qualifying event of 2012, it was their fourth attempt to play. There were quite a few good scores, but the achievement of the day belonged to Dorothy Fidler who, as the most senior lady playing, scored 38 stableford points and had her handicap reduced by two shots.
