Great Yarmouth And District League side South Yarmouth returned from their trip to King’s Lynn with a 4-2 win over previously unbeaten Springwood United in the Norfolk Primary Cup.

This win for the youthful South Yarmouth means the league lost only one club from the first round, with all other clubs progressing. The draw for round two threw up arguably the tie of the round with Belton FC entertaining Caister CC at Burgh Castle.

The league’s showpiece competition got under way as the first round of the Wiltshire Cup kicked off.

It was a case of David v Goliath as Division Two basement boys The Wellington entertained first division leaders Bohemians. However there was to be no shock as the visitors eased through 8-0 to book a second round tie at South Yarmouth.

Norfolk n Chance also made it through to round two. However, they needed extra time to see off Prostar Windows 2-1 and will visit the Albion in round two.

Yarmouth United and Peelers FC battled out a 0-0 draw after extra time. They will replay on November 20 at Lynn Grove for the right to face Caister United A.

Wellington, Prostar Windows and the team defeated in the replay will drop into the Percy Nockolds Trophy competition after Christmas.

The second round draw in full: Arches v Great Yarmouth International, Catfield v Caister Youth, Belton v Feathers, Mk United v Caister CC, Caister United A v Yarmouth United or Yarmouth Peelers, Albion v Norfolk n Chance, Carpathians v Martham A, South Yarmouth v Bohemians.

In Division One, the game of the day pitted Albion – who having lost their first game have strengthened considerably and remained unbeaten since – up against title challengers MK United.

MK took an early two-goal lead, but Tich Leighton sides do not give up and Albion fought back. With the game flowing back and forth, the home side took the victory by 4-3 to put a serious dent in MK United’s title hopes.

The champions Catfield cruised to a 12-1 win over never-say-die Caister A. A hat-trick of penalties from Adam Hodds, four goals from John Bell, a brace from Paul Thompson and strikes from Aaron Bowers and Adam Thompson completed a comfortable victory.

Great Yarmouth International also eased to three points by beating the luckless Feathers 8-0 on Gorleston Rec.

In Division Two, Caister Community Centre went three points clear at the top by beating Caister Youth in the derby at Allendale by 4-2. It gives Caister CC a 100 per cent record from four games as they state their ambitions for the season.

Nearest challengers Belton were held to a 2-2 draw at Arches despite Ian Holmes’ double. Ben Kiki and Stuart Finch were on target for the home side.

Carpathians recorded a 7-2 win over Martham A at Ormesby, Owen Beevor scoring a hat-trick for the home side who now sit second. The two clubs face off again next month in the Wiltshire cup.

Best of luck to all clubs in the junior cup this week. Please continue to text in results straight after the game.
