The weather frustrated second-placed Acle in their finely-balanced Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One game with Swardeston A, who are fourth. Acle needed 61 for victory from 11.1 overs when rain ended play.

Skipper Shaun Roberts took five for 55 in Swardeston’s innings of 220 for eight, with Mike Outar scoring 51. Rob Porter hit 74 of Acle’s 140 for three.

That leaves Acle 13 points behind leaders Old Buckenham, who had a winning draw at Topcroft, and 41 ahead of third-placed Mattishall.

In Division Three, third-placed Acle A (145 for nine) lost at Swardeston B (146 for three).

In Division Five, Winterton are third, not having had a game, while Halvergate are four points behind them in fourth.

The Hares made 148 for six, their visitors, second-placed Great Melton A, making the same total – for nine wickets.

In Norfolk League Division One, paceman Chris Alger took five wickets as leaders Rollesby marched on against lowly Hales & Loddon A.

But the title-hopefuls were given a scare as they chased a modest 149 for victory, losing eight wickets. Alger and Alex Chaney each made 35, the win coming in the 40th over.

Fourth-placed Great Yarmouth made 115 for eight, home side Old Catton, just above them, winning with 116 for four.

Caister, in fifth spot, made 172 for seven against home side Drayton’s 176 for four.

In Division Two, Belton (176 for seven), beat Horsford B (78) away, while in Division Three, Keith Nicholls fired an unbeaten 79 for bottom side Great Yarmouth A (185 for four) but that did not stop their visitors K&P Railway A (189 for two) winning by eight wickets. Leaders Martham (177) beat visitors Drayton A (139 for eight).

Division Four: Lowestoft B 165 for nine, Winterton A 166 for seven; Division Six: Rollesby A 142 for one, Lowestoft C 141 for seven; Division Seven: Bunwell 220, Acle B 156; Division Eight: Gt Witchingham B 174, Blundeston A 206 for six (Trevor Daplyn 68, Tim Mobbs 45).
