Rangers' tournament earns high fives

Gorleston Rangers FC's 21st annual five a side tournament, sponsored by Moughton Engineering Services, media partners Great Yarmouth Mercury and Eastern Daily Press, was held over the weekend at Lynn Grove VA High School.

Again with over 200 teams entered from all around East Anglia and beyond, it was a great success. With 14 pitches used on Saturday and 16 pitches used on Sunday, nearly 1,500 boys and girls participated in nearly 750 matches.

The club is grateful to its individual team managers, committee members, friends, associates, referees, St John Ambulance, Lynn Grove VA High School, sponsors and advertisers for their support. Special thanks to Moughton Engineering Services for sponsoring the event to media partners Great Yarmouth Mercury and EDP; and trophy sponsors.

Results. Under 7 & 8 - There was a total of 42 teams entered in these two age groups, with no scores recorded in line with National FA regulations. All participants received a Gorleston Rangers FC commemorative medal. The medals were sponsored by Great Yarmouth Lions Club.

Under 14 - Lowestoft Town Blues 1 Sprowston Lads 0, Trophy sponsors: Edeco Petroleum Services Limited.

Under 15 - Hellesdon Youth 1 (9 pens) Shrublands Juniors 1 (8 pens), Trophy sponsors: CLS Offshore Limited.

Under 16 - Sprowston Lads 6 Aztec Yellows 0, Trophy sponsors: Great Yarmouth Ceilings Limited.

Gorleston Rangers FC are an FA Chartered Development Club which means that all managers and coaches are at least FA level 1 qualified, been CRB checked, are emergency first aid trained and have attended the FA Child Protection Course.
