There were 49 first timers in the Easter weekend Gorleston Cliffs Parkrun, helping the event break its attendance record with a whopping 384 participants.

Seventy of those obtained a personal best time, with the cross winds proving to be less of a hindrance compared to the more common head winds.

No fewer than 35 different running clubs were represented, with many of these being ‘parkrun tourists’. This is a term popularised by parkrunners who take advantage of visiting a parkrun local to their holiday location rather than missing the weekly 5km event.

Both first woman and first man to finish came from Luton Athletics Club; Libby Jay in 19.51 and Shane Jay in a swift 16.40. Jim Last, a Framlingham Flyer, claimed second spot in 17.00, with Darren Barnes third in 17.59. Emily Coles completed her 50th run in 32.01 and Beverly Childs celebrated her 200th run with a PB of 29.18.
