Broadland-GY 53 Felixstowe 3

Broadland-GY recorded one of their most comprehensive league wins in recent years as they scored nine tries against a spirited Felixstowe side.

They made a fantastic start as a break from Stuart Murray, released wing Stacey Ledgerwood clear on the outside, to score in the corner. Felixstowe responded quickly with a penalty, but Broadland immediately marched back up the field, Adam Towfighi and Simon Coleman moved the ball in close, before prop Matt Beckett crashed through to score. Broadland attacks were fast and furious as veteran centre Mark White put in a devastating sidestep to break for the line and score.

Broadland were moving the ball at will and Liam Lovick and Kieran Wilkes moved the ball well, allowing some space for captain Phil Buckley to break clear, and offload in the tackle, which saw full back Tom Weston take the ball cleanly to score from 20 yards. Weston was back on the scoresheet in no time as he danced over for his second.

Broadland were also rock solid in defence with Ash Sullivan and James Dudley making some great tackles. The half concluded with Broadland leading 29-3.

Broadland did not let up in the second half as hooker Ash Lightfoot Crashed over from short range.

The tries kept coming as centre Mossie broke wide and managed to get deep into Broadland territory, with French coming up quick to secure position, scrum half Buckley spun the ball wide to Lightfoot. Lightfoot had space but had to work round two defenders, before cutting back inside to score.

Felixstowe were tackling well but Broadland maintained position, some good yards from flanker Ryan Gallie, started a break concluding with Simon Ruddick slipping a tackle to score.

Broadland finished with a great break from Ruddick, who was agonisingly close to the line.

Taking the safe option he popped the ball up to Lightfoot to score his hat-trick.

The win moves Broadland to second place in Eastern Counties League Division Two.
