Gorleston ended Ridgeons League First Division leaders FC Clacton's run of eight unbeaten matches as second-half strikes from Mitch Forbes and Steve Taylor gave the Greens a comfortable 2-0 home win.

Striker Forbes swept in a Luke Goreham cross to put Gorleston in front shortly after the interval. Lively winger Taylor sealed victory, heading in off a post just before the final whistle.

The win did the Greens' east coast rivals Great Yarmouth a good turn.

With previously 100 per cent Saffron Walden dropping points and Diss and Brantham both idle, the Bloaters consolidated their third spot with a 4-0 victory at bottom side Fakenham.

Stewart Roach gave the Bloaters a sixth-minute lead with a header from a Jo Bell corner, but it took another 40 minutes for the Clipbush Lane visitors to again find a way past a stubborn Ghosts side when Scott Woodcock scored at the second attempt after former-Bloater Sean Cooper had saved his initial shot.

Dominic Smith shot home via a post in the 53rd minute, and substitute Liam Bartley completed the scoring with an angled 20-yarder after 68 minutes. Yarmouth now trail second-placed Diss by two points with two games in hand.

Karl Pask for the Ghosts had a low shot beaten away by Michael Hilton at full stretch, a James Bamford free-kick went close and Harry Felton, one of a trio of under-18s in the starting line-up, hit the bar in the final minute with a header from a corner. Fakenham are looking for their first point after seven games.

Swaffham Town drew 1-1 at home to Saffron Walden, who went to Shoemaker's Lane undefeated.

The Pedlars started well but Simon Jones retired in the 12th minute with a groin injury, replaced by Richard Cornwall.

It took a fine stop by the Walden keeper to keep out a Gavin Norman strike, headed on by Cornwall from a Ben Russell free-kick. The counter-attack led to a Walden corner from which a header gave keeper Lee Brookes no chance.

Swaffham's second-half pressure finally paid in the 69th minute when Hunter netted his first of the season, from a Russell free-kick. Walden substitute Tom Butchart saw red for a challenge on Matthew Kenny.

In the Premier Division, Norwich United drew 1-1 at home to Needham Market.

Jordan Blyth struck just before the break to give the Planters a half-time lead when a throw from the left was laid off for Blyth to hit an excellent shot inside the far post.

Needham equalised straight from the kick-off when Danny Thrower ran through the home defence just 15 seconds after the re-start.

The Planters had good second-half chances but in the closing minutes Kevin Horlock's specualtive effort from 45 yards caught on the wind and came back off the face of the United bar

King's Lynn Reserves lost their sixth match in succession, 2-0 at home to high-flying Essex side Stanway Rovers.

A very young Lynn side did well to hold the visitors to just a two-goal margin.

The league's leading scorer, Sam Newson, put Rovers ahead on 12 minutes and Clark added a second 10 minutes later. Dan Buhlemann went close to pulling a goal back for Lynn.

Downham suffered a 5-0 defeat away to Team Bury.
