IN the usually tough 5k run which takes place in Wroxham, the Great Yarmouth Road Runners came in with good times and five personal bests from the evening racing.

Phil Quantrill came in first in a time of 18:08 closely followed by the evergreen Richard Blake in 18:13, which placed him first over-55 and second in the county championship.

Paul Brookshaw came home in 19:28 (pb) carrying on his own personal battle with Steve Etherington, who finished in 20:07 (pb).

Claiming boasting rights in the Shulver household was Ed Shulver who completed in 20:43, overcoming his father Rod in 25:15 and sister Tiffany in 32:43.

Again the Shulver family were out in numbers and competing and performing well in a quality field.

Showing another pb performance with a time of 21:23 was David Lawler, carrying on his progress from the GYRR half-marathon a couple of weeks ago.

Karen Manning, with her Amsterdam marathon coming up, finished in a cracking time of 22:17 with husband Andrew helping as a pace maker following in behind her in 22:18.

Marie Worral ran the distance in 23:39 and completed all three of the Wroxham series showing her enthusiasm for this distance.

Angie Pacey's time of 25:55 (pb) beat off the competition from Denise Etherington 30:58 (pb) with both runners moving up the pb trophy list and challenging Paul Brookshaw and Denise's husband Steve.

In another race Paul Brookshaw competed in the Reepham 10k multi-terrain just after coming back from holiday.

The race weather began dry but cloudy, but this changed rapidly to heavy rain throughout the entire race.

This resulted in very muddy and slippery conditions, especially along the disused railway track from 5k onwards. Race time was 42 minutes 12 seconds, with which Paul was happy.
