Great Yarmouth Road Runners Andrew and Karen Manning went to Shouldham on Sunday for the fifth Ryston cross country race in the series. The race was 9k.

Andrew came first vet 40 in a time of 31:41 and Karen came fourth vet 35 in a time of 41:48. Also there were a number of runners running on Wednesday at the midweek league.

Annette Carter and Karen again ran for the ladies and Jeff Helmore, Steve Etherington, John Bone, Mike Spragg ran for the men as well as sixth form contingent. Steve Dady ran the Valentines 10k and came 35th in the time of 41:59.

The Stamford St Valentines 30k included two Road Runners. With Tony Anderson training for this year's Virgin London marathon and Andy Peck training to stop getting any fatter, both started the race with different expectations. The weather was good for distance running, which was bad news for Andy.

With Tony's local knowledge and the fact that he has run the race before he took the lead from halfway, leaving Andy trailing. With the marathon training put in by Tony now paying dividends, even with him falling ill the night before, he finished in a personal best 2hr 35min. Andy, running this race for the first time, finished in 2-45, which he was happy with.
