THERE was a double celebration for Stalham Artistic Roller Skating Club at the Maidstone Open 2009 skating competition as the club brought home a fantastic haul of 20 medals and also won the Visitors Cup, taking the most points over the two day event.

THERE was a double celebration for Stalham Artistic Roller Skating Club at the Maidstone Open 2009 skating competition as the club brought home a fantastic haul of 20 medals and also won the Visitors Cup, taking the most points over the two day event.

The skaters competed in heats for solo dance, duo dance, free skating, OSP and teams of three to take seven gold, six silver and seven bronze medals.

Elena Dickenson, silver for OSP (inter-bronze and bronze), bronze for duo dance (inter-bronze and bronze), bronze of teams of three (Stalham Stars, inter-bronze and bronze). Sasha Ellison, gold for teams of three (Stalham Starlites, non-medallist), gold for duo dance (non-medallist), silver for OSP (non-medallist). Tamara Ellison, gold for OSP (non-medallist), gold for teams of three (Stalham Starlites, non-medallist), gold for duo dance (non-medallist). Sarah Ford, silver for free (non-medallist, 13 years and over). Shannon Hudson, bronze for teams of three (Stalham Stars, inter-bronze and bronze). Kerry Asta Pickering, silver for free (inter-bronze and bronze, 25 years and over), bronze for teams of three (Stalham Stars, inter-bronze and bronze), bronze for duo dance (inter-bronze and bronze). Yasmin Rivett, gold for teams of three (Stalham Starlites, non-medallist), bronze for free (non-medallist, 10 years and under), bronze for solo dance (non-medallist). Daisy Robinson, silver for duo exhibitions (non-medallist).

Emily Woods, gold for solo dance (non-medallist, first year newcomers), silver for duo exhibitions (non-medallist).

Chanel Crowe, Sarah Mockford and Sarah Ford skated well as Stalham Roses while Rebecca Dixon, Daisy Robinson and Emily Woods competed as Stalham Gems for the teams of three event. Duo partners Rebecca and Emily narrowly missed out on a medal gaining fourth place closely followed by Yasmin and Chanel in fifth place out of 12.
