The Stalham Artistic Roller Skating Club competed in the Romford YMCA Rollers 2008 Skate Festival with 13 skaters.Shannon Hudson took a silver medal with her original set pattern dance (elementary and preliminary) and also made it through to the final six in solo dance heats (elementary and preliminary) and gained seventh place in duo dance (up to and including prelim) with partner Sarah Ford who is in her first competitive year.

Shannon Hudson took a silver medal with her original set pattern dance (elementary and preliminary) and also made it through to the final six in solo dance heats (elementary and preliminary) and gained seventh place in duo dance (up to and including prelim) with partner Sarah Ford who is in her first competitive year.

Silver went coach Kerry-Asta Pickering who took second place out of the final six skaters in her solo dance heat (inter-bronze and bronze open age).

Rebecca Dixon took home two medals in her third competition, gaining bronzes for solo dance and couples dance with partner Jordan Newton in only his second competition. Rebecca also skated well with partner Yasmin Rivett in duo dance (up to and including prelim).

Elena Dickenson made it through to the semi finals in solo dance heats (elementary and preliminary). Elena put on a sparkling performance for her OSP dance took fifth place for duo dance with partner Kerry-Asta Pickering (inter-bronze and bronze, open age).

Father and daughter coaching partnership Kerry-Asta and Martin Pickering still managed fourth place in couples dance (open standard, one skater over 30 years), with one judge marking them third, after a tumble.

Jordan and partner Chanel Crowe achieved an impressive seventh place in duo dance as novice skaters in a difficult group (up to and including prelim) along with duo partner sisters Sasha and Tamara Ellison who also went on to make it through to the final six skaters in their solo dance heat (non-medallist, 11 years and under) achieving fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Newcomers to competing were Grace Dale and Daisy Robinson. Grace skated extremely well in the solo dance knockout (non-medallist, 12 years and over) with edges and arabesques and glide waltz. Six-year-old Daisy Robinson gained a fantastic fifth place in her solo dance event (first year newcomer, 10 years and under) with one judge marking her in third place.

The club also achieved good results in team dances as Stalham Gems, Roses and Stars. The Gems, (Chanel, Sasha and Tamara) took fourth place, just one point outside winning a bronze medal.

The club's next competition will be the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating Winter Solo later this month.

Regular grades, dance and fun sessions are held at the Marina Centre, Great Yarmouth.
