Norfolk Plate final

Dereham 29, Broadland-Great Yarmouth 23

DESPITE a string of late attacks Broadland could not break the Dereham goalline.

Matt Beckett, Rye Bilyard and Richard Bristo began to dominate the scrums but Dereham broke from midfield to open the scoring, then went over for a second. Broadland struck back with a penalty kick from Ash Lightfoot.

Great play from Mark White led to Stacey Ledgerwood breaking free to score under the posts (converted Lightfoot). Dereham responded with a converted try. Lightfoot added a second penalty after some solid running from wing Matt Scott. It was the following kick-off that yielded the try of the game. Flanker Ed Dixon collected the ball deep and ran up the sideline to set up Dixon to sprint 50m to score. Dereham scored to lead 24-18 at the break.

A lapse in Broadland's defence saw Dereham extend the score. Broadland introduced a run of replacements. Alfshinpour, Chiddle and French were involved before captain Matt Beckett popped the ball out from the back of the ruck to the blindside flanker Asa Morrison who drove over to score.

Broadland pushed hard for the last 10 minutes and despite getting in close could not quite back the try line.
