This turned out to be Craig Hopkins, a very talented runner, who made light of the conditions to break the course record with 15.59. Hopkins' home is near Gorleston. Not to be outdone his brother, home on army leave, ran the whole course with a 50lb rucksack on his back.

All parkrunners are wished a very happy Christmas and urged to continue during 2010. If anyone fancies volunteering to help at any time just let one of the organisers know.

Many have improved their times in 2009. The organisers hope they are playing a part in encouraging fitness and wellbeing and that those taking part find the Saturday morning exercise helpful.

Parkrunners are urged to do what they can to promote the free parkrun on Gorleston Cliffs and encourage others to and join them.

Very soon they will be rolling out the barcode method of recording finishers and their times to make the results system easier to manage.

On Boxing Day, the regular park run will be a festive Jingle Bell Jog Christmas special. Organisers are encouraging all participants to come in fancy dress or at least with some jingling bells. Afterwards there will be a free mince pie for all at the nearby Marina Bay Caf on the lower promenade.
