IT was a superb day at the Broadland Half Marathon on Sunday for the Great Yarmouth Road Runners.

The veterans team won their category (Neil Sibley, Richard Blake and Stephen Leeves). Two age group winners were Carole Spong and Richard Blake.

Another impressive turnout saw 15 Road Runners in the field of 242. Personal bests were up for grabs with Mark Thompson, Stephen Leeves, Mark Mountain, Pauline Richardson and Bob Arnell all having good finishing times.

There was a good attendance again at the Park Run, nine members from the Road Runners in a very good field of 109.

In almost perfect weather conditions for running, Langley School held a 5K race within and around the grounds of the school.

Running on roads and grass, Road Runner Sean Jermy, finished in second place overall with a new personal best of 17:56.

Last week Richard Blake went to Worthing and competed in the 20 mile event. He finished 44th out of 447 runners in a time of 2-22:25

On a warm Sunday morning, five members of Great Yarmouth and District Athletics Club entered the Broadland Half Marathon, organised by Norwich Road Runners.

In fine preparation for his forthcoming London Marathon, Chris Gay was the first member home, 48th with a pb of 1-36:48. John England followed with of 1-55:44.

First lady home was Sue Fraser who completed the course in 1-56:47, her second best time for the distance.

Another runner preparing for London was Sue Ryles who was exceptionally pleased with her pb 2-18:50. Pat Brightman, competing in London for the 16th time, making a recovery from a viral infection, was pleased with her 2-43:25.

All five runners were delighted to have the support along the route from Maureen and Denise.

GYDAC wishes good luck to all three runners next week in London — Chris, Sue R and Pat.

Sunday was the final day in the Ryston Runners series where over six races they have there three best runs to count for the overall final positions.

Ryston Runners 25th Anniversary GYDAC Series winners are: U13g Amy Dowsett 2nd silver, U15g Catherine Lee 3rd bronze, U15b Domonic Oliver 3rd bronze.
