LAST Sunday the Great Yarmouth Road Runners were out in force in the Trowse 10k, organised by City of Norwich AC.

The event took place in superb race conditions, cool but dry and without a breath of wind, with a maximum field of 500 competitors.

Seven of the field came from Great Yarmouth Road Runners - Annette Carter, Sylvia and Stephen Dady, Ivan Lees, Steve Stringer, Andy Peck and Mark Peach.

First club member home was Stephen Dady in a time of 42:28 who again was well up the finishing order, coming second in his age category.

Next were Mark Peach and Andy Peck in a joint time of 51:38, neither worried about a time but honouring the memory of Paul Brookshaw.

New club member Steve Stringer was next to complete the course in 54:30, he is going to be pushing the faster club runners soon. Close behind was Ivan Less in 55:42 who just came in ahead of Sylvia Dady in 55:45. Annette Carter came home in 58:00 which she will be pleased with after three races over the Easter weekend.

Also on Good Friday even more club members went to Bungay and ran in the Roger Wing 10k charity run.

Before the 10k took place a one- mile fun run was held. Sean Jermy ran the one-mile race and won in a very good time of 5:26.

Three runners from GYRR were on the start line, along with over 300 other runners for the 10k.

First man home was Darren Fowle of Norwich Road Runners in a time of 33:08.

First home for GYRR was Carole Spong in 53:43 followed closely by Ivan Lees in 55:36 and Annette Carter in 58:21.

Well done to all the runners and best wishes go to the club runners Steve Etherington, Neil Sibley, Jeff Helmore, Ed Shulver, Tony Anderson, Marie Worrall, Andrea Richmond, Debbie Balfour-Hurren and Denise Etherington who will be representing the club at this year's Virgin London Marathon.

Gorleston Cliffs parkrun 50: Gorleston is a fine place to visit for some parkrunning along the cliffs and promenade. There are usually several visitors amongst the Saturday morning throng lining up at 9am to tackle the weekly 5k parkrun.

Latest winner, Paul Moorcroft from Coventry Godiva Harriers and Coventry parkrun, bided his time until the second lap then stormed on to record a time of 19:02. In second place, after a very dogged run, was young Keelan Pywell in 19:17 and third was regular Matthew Sutton in 19:43. Fourth was Vinney Jones who is training hard for the London Marathon.

Matthew will be appearing in the Rotterdam marathon, and parkrun volunteer Dave Kelf will be in Paris for the marathon there on Sunday.

It was a good morning for the Pywells. First lady home was young Kelly Pywell in 23:11. Close behind in second place was Nicola Baker in 23:23 with Helen Brown third in 25:33.

In the points competition Peter Smith has a lead of 114 over Nick Overy, and Elaine Stone leads Linda Philips by 280 points.
