School runners battle through cross country snow

THE Great Yarmouth Schools Cross Country Championships were held at Bure Park, Caister Road, Great Yarmouth organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council Sports Development Service, Great Yarmouth and District Athletic Club and East Norfolk School Sports Partnership.

Winners: Year 5. Boys - Sam Wooldridge (Cliff Park), Girls - Holly Baker (Woodlands).

Year 6. Boys - Patrick Manning (Stradbroke), Girls - Amy Dowsett (Ormesby).

Year 7. Boys - Brandon Colby (Lynn Grove), Girls - Vicky Simmonds (Lynn Grove).

Years 8 & 9. Boys - Keelan Pywell (GYHS). Girls - Catherine Lee (Cliff Park)

Years 10 & 11. Boys - Ben Church (Flegg), Girls - Frankie Turner (Cliff Park)

John Pamplin, the borough council sports development officer, said: “Despite the recent poor weather it's testament to the toughness shown by all who turned out to run. With over 300 runners taking part we were treated to some excellent races and performances. Hopefully these performances will be repeated at the Norfolk County Schools Championships on January 27.”
