THE Greens had been threatening a big win for a few weeks and hit the jackpot at Emerald Park on Saturday.

A battling Pedlars side kept their hosts at bay in the first half and at the interval Gorleston had only one goal. It was a typical Lee Hunter effort, writes Mick Heard.

Following a fine passing movement on the right he lifted the ball over Swaffham keeper Williamson after 20 minutes.

Gorleston had brought Kyle Howell back into the team at right-back and he had an excellent match.

Gorleston started the second half at a blistering pace and had virtually sealed the match within six minutes.

Hunter scored two more well-taken goals on 49 and 51 minutes to claim a hat-trick, and bring his season's total to 30 goals in all, 25 in the league.

Substitutes Gary Ingram, Harry Maddison and Paul Hunter all came on in the second period.

Gorleston kept the ball down and produced many great passing moves involving all the team. Kevin Howes supported Hunter in attack, holding the ball up well with his strength.

On 58 minutes Pete Lambert made it 4-0, converting a left-wing cross after moving quickly into the box.

Luke Goreham scored a spectacular goal on 60 minutes when he completely deceived keeper Williamson with a well-flighted shot from some distance out.

Ricci Butler who was prominent throughout on the left-flank curled in a fine corner kick from the left which central defender Leon Harewood headed in at the far post on 72 minutes.

Gary Ingram made the score 7-0 when he ran through and gave Williamson no chance with a chip into the net.

Swaffham fought to the end with Ashley Spendelow a combative midfielder.

The overworked Swaffham keeper Williamson made a superb save when he tipped a terrific strike from Harry Maddison over the bar.

Before the game David Gall presented midfield player Steve Taylor with his Player of the Month trophy. Taylor has been in excellent form all season. The club thank David for presenting this trophy every month.

Team: T Marsden, K Howell, L Goreham, J Bell, L Harewood, E Thompson, S Taylor, P Lambert, L Hunter, K Howes, R Butler. Subs: G Ingram, P Hunter, H Maddison.

It was very pleasing to see long-time supporter David Young at the match on Saturday having recovered from a recent illness.

Tomorrow Gorleston have a very difficult fixture at Halstead, 3pm.
